“Something Still Swims Here” is rooted in Maunalua Bay, a place once shaped by abundant loko iʻa that sustained the surrounding community. This work considers what remains within changing landscapes—where memory, care, and life continue to move quietly beneath the surface.
Memory, place, and internal worlds through abstraction.
My practice explores place, memory, and the relationships that shape us. Working across abstract landscapes and animal portraiture, I transform lived experiences into layered visual narratives. Sumi ink replaces black in every painting, honoring my Japanese heritage and serving as a material thread that connects each body of work.
